Viva Southwest Mariachi
Pathway: Comunidad y Cultura
A regional mariachi conference and festival presented with the MSU Denver Department of Music, with workshops for musicians of all ages and Colorado's All-State youth ensemble.
Viva Southwest Mariachi is presented by the Latino Cultural Arts Center and the MSU Denver Department of Music. Education is at its core: the regional conference and festival offer workshops for musicians of all ages and celebrate the best young mariachi talent in Colorado.
Spring conference
Each spring, the conference brings a Mariachi Educator Workshop and Ensemble Masterclasses to the Auraria Campus in Denver.
Festival Garibaldi
Viva Southwest Mariachi partners with Empowered to co-host Festival Garibaldi, a free community festival inspired by the famous plaza in Mexico City. Local Denver mariachi and folklórico groups fill the evening with traditional music and dance — more than 25 performances in a celebration of Mexican culture.
All-State Mariachi Estelares
Colorado's premier youth mariachi ensemble brings together the best young talent from across the state. Music directors can learn more and nominate a mariachi.
Viva Southwest Mariachi Festival
In the fall, the Viva Southwest Mariachi Festival at Levitt Pavilion Denver celebrates the Mariachi Estelares alongside a headlining act.
