Pathway: Comunidad y Cultura
LCAC's annual celebration rooted in the ancient and contemporary Mesoamerican traditions of Día de los Muertos — where grief is honored and healing happens in community, through art and across generations.

A practice of remembrance and healing
Ofrendas is LCAC's annual celebration rooted in the ancient and contemporary Mesoamerican traditions of Día de los Muertos — a space where grief is not hidden but honored, and where healing happens in community, through art and across generations.
Ofrendas has grown into one of Denver's most anticipated cultural gatherings, bringing together local artists, facilitators, schools and families to co-create altars, masks, candles, sugar skulls and ceremonial objects while learning the traditions that have carried our ancestors' memories for thousands of years.
Ofrendas documentary
The Ofrendas Documentary is a multi-part series about what Día de los Muertos traditions mean to communities across Denver and Colorado. The first episode explores the origins of the ancient and contemporary celebrations of a sacred tradition that honors life and renewal.
LCAC collaborated with filmmakers Steven Yazzie and Gabe Fermin to interview local Native and Chicano cultural warriors Maruca Salazar, Santiago Jaramillo, Ramona Beltran and David Atekpatzin Young, who each bring their own stories and reflections on Day of the Dead.
